Using the forum
Find discussions, reply, react and manage your conversations.
Finding and following discussions
Choose a forum from the forum list or use Search. What’s new helps you catch up. Watch a thread to follow it; notification choices depend on your account settings.
Replying and quoting
Use Reply below a post to bring the quoted message into your reply. Use Quote to collect multiple posts, then insert your selected quotes. To write a general reply, type directly in the reply box at the bottom of the thread.
The OP badge identifies the thread starter. New indicators show messages newer than your recorded reading position.
Reactions
Hover over the reaction control with a mouse to open the choices. On a touch screen, tap the control to open them. Select the reaction you want; selecting your current reaction removes it. Open a post’s reaction summary to see who reacted.
Writing and pictures
The editor offers formatting, links, emoji, quotes, lists, tables and attachments. Open a toolbar menu to see its choices; Escape closes an open menu. Preview lets you check your message before submitting it.
Select an inserted image to resize or align it. Use the image alignment controls to place it left, center or right. Switch to BB code mode when you want to edit formatting tags directly. The BB code guide explains the available tags.
Private conversations
Signed-in members can use Conversations to exchange private messages, subject to permissions and recipient settings. Conversation controls let participants manage read state, starring and their inbox.
To save a conversation, open it and choose Export conversation, then HTML or plain text. The download contains the visible messages you may access. Attached files are listed but must be downloaded separately. Leaving a conversation removes your access to it.
Account settings and reporting problems
Use your account settings to manage your profile and preferences. Use a post’s Report action to bring a content problem to staff. For a technical bug, include the page, what you tried, what happened and your browser or device. Avoid including passwords or private messages in a public report.
